Silicon Valley Start-Up Parade Technologies Adopts Springsoft’s Verdi Debug for Digital Video Interface Chip Verification
SpringSoft, Inc., a global supplier of specialized IC design software, announced that Parade Technologies Ltd. (www.paradetech.com), a leading video display and analog high speed interface IC supplier, has selected its Verdi™ Automated Debug System as the standard debug platform. The Verdi software will be deployed in Parade’s design center located in Shanghai, China to significantly reduce debug time and accelerate functional verification of digital display interface chips that support the latest High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI™) and DisplayPort™ standards.
Parade Technologies is a fabless semiconductor company that specializes in developing video display and analog high-speed interface ICs used in a broad array of personal computer and consumer electronics applications, including digital TVs and LCD display panels. Acknowledged by the Global Semiconductor Alliance as a finalist for its 2009 & 2010 ‘Startups to Watch’ award, Parade combines proven high-speed analog, mixed-signal and digital design expertise with system-level knowledge to deliver advanced solutions that take product performance, power efficiency and customer satisfaction to new heights.
“As a start-up company, we are under extreme pressure to ensure that our products are competitive and of high quality. The fact that digital video technologies get more complex with each generation and interface standards are evolving faster than ever adds to this challenge, especially for our logic verification engineers,” said Jimmy Chiu, vice president of marketing at Parade Technologies. “Fortunately, Verdi makes the process of tracking down the root cause of design problems much easier and faster than using the debug tools embedded in logic simulators. As a result, we can speed up verification efforts overall and move designs into tape out with greater confidence.”
The Verdi Automated Debug System is SpringSoft’s flagship product for advanced debug. It cuts debug time in half by automating the process of comprehending how complex IC and system-on-chip (SoC) designs work, particularly unfamiliar legacy design elements or third-party intellectual property. The full-featured system automates behavior tracing over time with its unique analysis engines, provides a powerful set of design views to visualize and help analyze cause-and-effect relationships, and uses patented techniques to reveal the functional operation and interaction between the design, assertions and system testbench.
“We are honored that Parade Technologies, one of the most promising IC start-ups with a design center in China, has chosen Verdi as a key component of its verification methodology and strategic vision for a world-class design competency that supports tier-1 OEM customers around the globe,” said Xu Wei, head of SpringSoft’s operations in China. “SpringSoft is committed to development of the IC design industry in China, and we continue to invest in bringing strategic support and our specialized automation technologies to companies of all sizes throughout the semiconductor supply chain in this key region.”
