CONTACT University Initiative to Promote the Engineers of the Future
CONTACT Software GmbH has strengthened its commitment to the area of research and training by introducing a widely established cooperation opportunity for colleges and universities: the new CONTACT University programme provides funded training on the topics of Product Data Management and Product Lifecycle Management (PDM/PLM) for a variety of engineering disciplines. The aim of the initiative is to promote a college education with a clear practical relevance by providing students with access to high-performance, state-of-the-art software. To this end, the PDM/PLM platform CIM DATABASE and the CONTACT workspaces for CAD data management and collaborative product development are made available to the students, in addition to the project management solution, CONTACT Project Office. The colleges also receive teaching support in the form of comprehensive know-how relevant to the introduction of PDM and PLM.
CONTACT University launched its extensive service package in January 2011 with the aim of providing its participants with the best possible support: in addition to the licences, the range of services includes workshops, professional training courses, a personal mentoring service, forums and a great deal more. "Nowadays it's almost impossible to develop innovative products without using PDM/PLM solutions. If the engineers of the future know how to work with these tools, the companies they work for will be better prepared to sustain their position in the global competitive market", explains Karl Heinz Zachries, the managing director of CONTACT, stating just one of the reasons behind the software manufacturer's engagement
