Hankook Delcam to be Biggest CAM Supplier at 20th Anniversary Intermold

Hankook Delcam will be the biggest and best exhibitor of machining and inspection software at the Intermold exhibition to be held in at the Kintex Hall in Ilsan, Korea, from 16th to 20th March. The company will, as it always does at this event, have the largest booth of any CAM supplier, where it will demonstrate the broadest range of machining and inspection software available from any provider.

The 2011 exhibition marks the 20th anniversary of Intermold Korea. Since its launch in 1981, it has become established as one of the world’s three biggest mould and die exhibitions alongside Euromold and Die & Mould China. This year’s event is expected to be the largest so far, a reflection of the strong recovery in the Korean market following the global financial crisis in 2009.

Hankook Delcam President Chan-Oong Jeong is predicting a successful exhibition for his company, after seeing his company’s sales grow by 45% during 2010. “With PowerMILL, FeatureCAM and PartMaker, we now offer a CAM system to machine virtually any product, in any material on any type of equipment, from simple lathes and mills through to the most complex five-axis machines and mill-turn equipment.” he claimed. “No other supplier has such a broad range of software to increase productivity, improve quality and shorten delivery times in so many applications.”

New versions of all of the programs will be demonstrated at Intermold, with each program being shown on large-screen presentations four times each day. In addition, Hankook Delcam will host a half-day seminar on the second floor of the Kintex Hall on Saturday 19th March, to present the new functionality to customers and prospects.

The 2011 version of PowerMILL makes the programming of safe toolpaths easier than ever thanks to new stock-model-engagement options that protect both the cutting tool and the machine from excessive loading. Other enhancements include new editing capabilities to simplify the machining of duplicate items; more versatile control of feed-rates for leads and links; and extra functionality for sketching, plus the completion of the move to the new clearer forms for the complete range of strategies.

FeatureCAM 2011 incorporates support for 64-bit computers, improved data exchange from a wider range of design software, the ability to use stock models and new strategies across the complete program, from turning to five-axis machining. The new release also has a more modern interface to make programming easier than ever.

Major highlights of PartMaker 2011 include more powerful milling functionality, a more flexible tooling library, improved programming and simulation of bar-fed mills, more detailed mid-process documentation and a host of additional productivity enhancements.  In particular, multi-axis milling functionality that has taken Delcam many man-years to develop continues to be added to PartMaker at a rapid pace.

Once machining is completed, the results can be checked with the PowerINSPECT inspection software, either using dedicated metrology equipment or with a probe fitted to the machine tool. The 2011 release makes the analysis of results even easier with the introduction of a “Quick Report” option. It also incorporates improvements to the handling of point-cloud data and easier reuse of measured data to inspect additional features, plus enhancements to the GD&T functionality.
