Autodesk Digital STEAM Curriculum Is Awarded ISTE Seal of Alignment

Autodesk, Inc. announced that its Autodesk Digital STEAM Workshop, a classroom curriculum for teaching science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) through design, has been recognized by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

After completing a review of Autodesk Digital STEAM Workshop, ISTE recognized Autodesk with its Seal of Alignment for Proficiency for supporting the implementation of ISTE’s National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS•S).

The Digital STEAM Workshop is a curriculum that is built around Autodesk software products that are widely used in the design industry. Currently there are 23 lessons in the curriculum, and each lesson uses at least one of four Autodesk products: AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit Architecture or Autodesk Maya software. The projects are all tied to real-world, engaging challenges that give students the opportunity to use Autodesk software to solve substantive problems.

ISTE determined the Digital STEAM Workshop supports its standards, which include:

Applying existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products or processes

Creating original works as a means of personal or group expression

Using models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues

Communicating information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats

The Autodesk Digital STEAM Workshop brings a new approach to teaching design, sustainability and creative problem-solving through interactive learning games, real-time 3D project viewers and design-thinking videos. This project-based learning workshop helps engage students while teaching and reinforcing the learning of core subjects.

Each project within the workshop includes comprehensive teacher resources such as lesson plans, project briefs, a pre-test and a post-test. Teachers do not have to be experts in Autodesk software to bring Autodesk Digital STEAM into their classrooms because extensive support materials are included with the workshop to guide students through projects and design processes.
