CONTACT Software Founds Swiss subsidiary; Public-limited Company Located in East Switzerland
CONTACT Software continues its course of expansion. The supplier of solutions for innovation processes and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) has founded another subsidiary: CONTACT Software Schweiz AG. The company, based in Appenzell near St. Gallen, will drive the further expansion of its Swiss customer base. The main focus will be the machine, electrical and metal industry, which thanks to an export share of around 80 percent is one of the most important economic branches in Switzerland.
Switzerland is internationally known for high-quality products, within the luxury segment particularly thanks to its watchmaking industry. 15 Swiss companies, including Novartis and Nestlé, were among the world's "Fortune" 500 list in 2010. On a whole, though, the Swiss economy is highly characterised by medium size companies, especially in the machine, electrical and metal industry.
In light of its small domestic market, innovations are vital for global market success. The basic conditions for this look good: Switzerland is home to internationally renowned research institutes and universities, such as the ETH Zurich, that work closely together with the industry. The country also regularly scores well in international innovation rankings – as was the case recently in the latest "Innovation Union Scoreboard"* in terms of the number of patents in health technologies for example. Last but not least, Swiss companies also adopt a leading position worldwide where investments in research and development are concerned.
"Thanks to our range of solutions, we are excellently positioned in this climate of innovation," says CONTACT managing director Karl Heinz Zachries while outlining the new subsidiary's chances for success. "We have everything for the predominantly medium-sized, globally orientated Swiss high-tech industry in order to strengthening its competitive capacity."
