TDT Hosts FREE Webinar March 21: Key Advantages of 3D Inverse Design in Turbomachinery Design Process, by Professor Mehrdad Zangeneh, PhD
TURBOdesign Technology, Inc. (TDT), an aerodynamic and hydrodynamic turbomachinery design software and engineering services company and exclusive U.S. distributor of Advanced Design Technology’s (ADT) TURBOdesign Suite, announced that it will host a free webinar, “Key Advantages of 3D Inverse Design in Turbomachinery Design Process,” on March 21 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. Turbomachinery design engineers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) looking to increase product efficiency while decreasing design times will benefit from the 3D Inverse Design process, which even makes new engineers productive within hours. To register for this free webinar, go to http://www.turbodesign-tech.com/webinar070312/
The webinar will be presented by Mehrdad Zangeneh, PhD. and professor of thermofluids at University College London and founding director of ADT. For 26 years, Zangeneh has developed advanced turbomachinery design codes based on the 3D Inverse Design approach and automatic optimization to turbomachinery design. His research has resulted in important breakthroughs in turbomachinery and marine propulsor design, and he has been granted six international patents. In 2000, Zangeneh was awarded the Japan’s Turbomachinery Society’s Gold Medal, and in 2003 he was awarded the Donald Julius Grone Prize by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in UK.
In this webinar, Zangeneh will use selected examples from centrifugal and mixed flow pumps, axial turbines, axial fans, axial compressors and centrifugal compressors to show how the inverse design approach can not only put designers more in control of the design process but also help turbomachinery manufacturers compete effectively in light of global competition, continual price pressure and margin compression, reduced time to market, requirements to supply customized products, skills shortages and new developments in manufacturing and materials technology.
According to TDT customer, Dr. Guy Phuong, senior development engineer, of McQuay International, “Using the 3D Inverse Design capabilities of the TURBOdesign Suite has saved us significant time. We are working on a project with TDT to improve the performance of one product with promising results. We hope this improvement can be made across the product line.”
According to Dr. Judy Busby, author of numerous turbomachinery design papers and vice president of technology and operations for TDT, “The TURBOdesign Suite provides a more systematic approach to the aerodynamic design problem. Furthermore, once an optimum input specification for a given design criteria (such as minimum loss, cavitation suppression, secondary flow suppression, etc.) has been obtained, it can be used to develop new prototypes very rapidly, thereby reducing development time for new designs.”
