AVEVA partners with Teesside University for Engineering Training Courses

AVEVA, announced today that it has enhanced its current partnership with Teesside University to offer AVEVA PDMS software training courses from the University’s new campus in Darlington, UK. Students attending the courses may be eligible to gain university credits against an HNC/D or foundation degree by accredited prior experiential learning.

“Skills shortages continue to be a challenge in most engineering companies and it will take some time for the recent increases in the number of engineering students at universities and technical colleges to overcome the generation gap that currently exists in the market”, commented Fredy Ktourza, Senior Vice President - West EMEA, AVEVA. “Teesside University has already been offering training with AVEVA PDMS for more than four years. We believe that by stepping up our engagement with the University we will be able to provide a larger local base of students and professional engineers that are qualified on AVEVA’s state-of-the-art software and can offer very valuable skills to their employers.”

In addition AVEVA has become a member of NOF Energy, a national business development organisation in North East England who specializes in oil, gas, nuclear and offshore renewables. AVEVA, the University and NOF Energy will be hosting a launch event at the university on Tuesday, April 24th to provide students and local engineering companies the opportunity to see the facilities within the campus and to learn more about each of these organisations and their role within the North East.

Focusing on AVEVA’s work with universities, Steve Tongish, VP Marketing, AVEVA added, “In addition to our own in-house graduate recruitment schemes, AVEVA’s Academic Initiative will continue to work with educational establishments and government bodies around the world to support initiatives aimed at narrowing the skills gap that exists in the engineering industry today. AVEVA sees this as a vital investment that will bring long-term benefits to the larger engineering industry ecosystem.”
