Infosys to Offer Apprenticeship Program in the United Kingdom

Infosys today announced that it has committed to developing an Apprenticeship Program with the National Apprenticeship Scheme (NAS) in the United Kingdom (UK). Through this program, Infosys will develop and support learners to achieve long-term employability through a combination of training and gainful employment.

The deed of commitment was signed in the presence of His Royal Highness The Prince Andrew, Duke of York, KG and Mr. Srinath Batni, Member of the Board and Head - Delivery Excellence, Infosys at the Infosys Headquarters in Bangalore.

Infosys, widely recognized for its software training programs and its Global Education Center in Mysore, will provide apprenticeships to over 100 learners over the next five years across its offices in UK. The apprenticeships will be in fields such as marketing, human resources and more.

The NAS in UK supports, funds and co-ordinates the delivery of apprenticeships throughout England. They are responsible for increasing the number of apprenticeship opportunities and providing a dedicated, responsive service for both employers and learners.

"Infosys is pleased to be associated with the National Apprenticeship Scheme in UK and is committed to providing learners an opportunity to work and gain meaningful experience with us. Globally Infosys is committed to investing in the communities in which we operate. We look forward to bringing our world renowned training and development approaches to help develop and grow skilled workers in UK," said Mr. Srinath Batni.

As a global company, Infosys is committed to investing in the countries and communities in which it is present through the Infosys Foundation and employee volunteerism programs. In UK, Infosys is part of the national, cross-employer group IT for Girls, led by e-skills UK. This group focuses on attracting more girls into careers in IT through school visits, talks and other initiatives. Infosys also works with East London Business Alliance (EBLA), an organization that helps companies connect with local schools to provide support and develop various programs. As a part of InStep, Infosys' Global Internship Program, the company has hosted 88 interns from UK since 2004, of which 18 students have interned with Infosys in the last year. InStep was recently recognized with the National Council for Work Experience Award 2012 for short term work placements in UK.
