MIDAS IT Selects Siemens PLM Software’s D-Cubed Components to Power New CAE Solution for AEC Market

Siemens PLM Software announced that its D-Cubed™ software has been selected to power a new offering from MIDAS Information Technology Co., Ltd., a Korean-based supplier of civil, structural and mechanical engineering software and consulting services, and a major supplier of computer-aided engineering (CAE) software for architectural and civil engineering. The company will use the D-Cubed 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM) and 3D Dimensional Constraint Manager (3D DCM) geometric constraint solving software components in a new CAE solution aimed at the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) market, including civil engineering.

“Our evaluation of geometric constraint solving software components confirmed the feedback we received from all the experts we consulted, who strongly recommended Siemens PLM Software’s D-Cubed 2D DCM and 3D DCM,” said Dae-Seock Shin, Director of R&D, MIDAS IT. “We selected these components because they meet all of our needs, are very reliable and open, and are the industry’s most widely used solutions for geometric constraint solving, with a strong reputation among their customers.”

MIDAS IT is an existing customer of Parasolid® software, a 3D geometric modeling component from Siemens PLM Software for CAD/CAM/CAE as well as AEC applications. The new CAE solution from MIDAS IT for the AEC market will use Parasolid to power its 3D geometry engine. It will also use the 2D DCM to support its parametric sketcher and the 3D DCM to support its constraint-based assembly part-positioning capability.

“By listening to specialty software suppliers like MIDAS IT, we are able to ensure our component solutions continue to meet the needs of all or our customers,” said Paul Sicking, Chief Technology Officer, Siemens PLM Software. “We believe that the ability to sustain our leadership position, with solutions like Parasolid and the D-Cubed components, is a testament to our focus on the customer and our open business model. The continued expansion of these solutions into both the CAE and AEC markets is further validation of our business strategy.”
