Apparel Magazine's Tech Conference West Set for March 21 in L.A.

Tech Conference West, produced by Apparel Magazine, will be held Wednesday, March 21 at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising's (FIDM) L.A. campus.

Complimentary registration is available to qualified apparel retailers, brands and manufacturers at http://apparel.edgl.com/2012-apparel-tech-conference-west.

The full-day event is designed to help executives strengthen their firm's strategic direction, technology roadmap and overall competitiveness. Included are up to a dozen expert-led educational sessions focused on design, PLM, ERP, all-channel retail, supply chain management, information technology, mobility and more, as well an exhibit area where attendees can meet one-on-one with leading technology solution providers.

Two keynotes will be presented. Peter Leech, partner, The Partnering Group, and former CMO, Onlineshoes.com, will speak on "Why e-Commerce Has Reached A New Tipping Point for Apparel," addressing such key issues as:

The collapse of traditional media in favor of digital/social communication for apparel;

Why fashion IS social media -- increased consumer input into design via social applications;

The rapid rise of mobile phones and price transparency;

Cannibalization of in-store sales and the trend to small footprint/web front stores; and

Product customization via e-commerce -- is it time to jump in?

Ilse Metchek, president, California Fashion Association (CFA), will present "California's Fashion Industry: State of the Union." Metchek will provide an executive summary of critical and current 'hot button' topics affecting the industry in 2012 and going forward, including:

California's apparel industry by the numbers

Current retail patterns

The impact of globalization

The long arm of legislation

California's future in fashion manufacturing and more.

To date, technology sessions will be presented by platinum sponsor, Simparel, and gold sponsors, GCS, Gerber Technology and Lawson.
