Siemens PLM Software Ranked #1 in Fastest Growing Market Segment for 11 Straight Years

Siemens PLM Software  today announced that – for the eleventh year in a row – it has been recognized by leading PLM management consulting and research firm CIMdata, Inc. as the market presence leader in the industry’s fastest growing category, collaborative Product Definition management (cPDm). CIMdata also ranked Siemens PLM Software as the market leader in the Digital Manufacturing market segment for the seventh straight year.

Siemens PLM Software addresses the cPDm category with its Teamcenter® portfolio, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management software, while its Tecnomatix® portfolio is the most widely used software in the digital manufacturing market segment. CIMdata’s findings are based on in-depth data and analysis of the PLM market and were announced by CIMdata in late March. They will also be detailed in their upcoming 2011 PLM Market Analysis Report.

“Our research shows that cPDm growth exceeded historic rates and will continue to expand at double digit growth rates for years to come. Siemens PLM Software continues to set the pace in this critical market segment,” said Peter Bilello, President of CIMdata. “Siemens PLM Software also continues to lead in Digital Manufacturing, with significantly more revenue than the next ranked provider, according to our research. To help future growth, Siemens PLM is taking steps to better leverage knowledge from across Siemens AG, one of the benefits of being part of a large global industrial company. With their increasing industry focus, the other industrial products business units within Siemens AG could provide some useful knowledge and candidates for PLM solution development and trials.”

According to CIMdata’s forecast, the cPDm market segment will experience a double digit five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.5 percent, resulting in a projected cPDm market size of approximately $17 billion by 2016, based on total software and services investments. CIMdata’s forecast for Digital Manufacturing is estimated to remain steady with a five-year CAGR of seven percent. Overall, CIMdata reports that mainstream PLM is forecasted to grow at a five-year CAGR of over ten percent and continues to see growth as a key enterprise investment.

“To be ranked as the top PLM provider in these two critical areas of the market is a great honor, but to receive this honor for so many consecutive years is a testament to our team’s unwavering dedication to helping customers solve business problems and create real value,” said Chuck Grindstaff, president and CEO, Siemens PLM Software. “Our open business model, years of industry expertise and exceptional technology development will continue to serve as the foundation for our own business strategy, as we continue to offer solutions that help our customers make smarter decisions that result in better products.”
