Siemens Energy Launches the Sales Tool Tacton Configurator World Wide for its Industrial Power Business

Siemens Energy Industrial Power will launch their new sales tool, Tacton Configurator, for use by sales teams in all regions worldwide. The tool will be used to create budgetary quotations for all products with a few exceptions.

Application engineers at Siemens have used Tacton Configurator for three years to generate firm quotations. Now the Siemens sales teams will use it globally to configure products during sales meetings.

“The beauty of Tacton Configurator is that it will guide the sales rep. through the sale and get the configuration of the product and quotation correct each time as potential conflicts and errors are resolved automatically by the configurator. It now takes us only five minutes to generate a complete budget offer including pricing, [and it] saves us tremendous amounts of time and money”, says Jan Nilsson, initiator of the development project and Senior Engineer CRM Process & IT Development.

The new tool improves both the sales organization as well as R&D because it develops and maintains product information in the system. Implementation of this system has already resulted in much simpler maintenance.

“In our previous system, we had thousands of business rules. Using Tacton's system, we now have just a few hundred and this has made maintenance so much easier,” says Asa Johansson, responsible for global coordination of Tacton.

Tacton’s mission is to simplify sales of complicated products and solutions. The Siemens implementation demonstrates how quotation time can be reduced from days to just a few minutes without sacrificing accuracy.

“I am extremely happy to have our solution implemented at Siemens. It really shows that we can solve configuration problems and make organizations more effective regardless of the complexity of the products to be configured. We are looking forward to a long and successful relationship with Siemens,” says Christer Wallberg, CEO Tacton Systems.
