Equalis Introduces Powerful Instrument Control and Fixed Point Modules

Equalis, a provider of open source numerical analysis, visualization and simulation solutions for engineers and scientists, built on the Scilab open source numerical computation platform, announced the availability of its Instrument Control module and Fixed Point module. These powerful new capabilities are provided through the Equalis Pro and Pro Plus solutions respectively.

Equalis Instrument Control module provides direct connection between Scilab and an array of instruments including: oscilloscopes, waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters and many others. The module enables Scilab to control your instruments with the serial port, USB, TCP/IP, or the GPIB bus. With this new module engineers can generate data, acquire data, and automate testing in order to verify hardware systems. The module builds on the popular GPIB toolbox, originally developed by Tibault Reveyrand, by adding features, stability, and compatibility. It is available through the Equalis Pro solution subscription.

Equalis Fixed Point module provides fixed-point data types in Scilab. Users can design fixed-point algorithms using Scilab syntax and then execute them in real-time. This data type allows users to leverage all the memory available on their PC, enabling them to choose very high levels of precision and minimize design iterations. It is available through the Equalis Pro Plus solution subscription.

Equalis, through its unique partnership with Scilab, provides a complete industrial grade solution consisting of the Scilab open source numerical computation platform, exclusive Equalis premier features and modules, as well as complete Equalis support programs for every type of user; be it educational users, professional users, or companies deploying globally. Scilab, downloaded more than 3,500,000 times, is the de facto open source standard for numerical analysis and simulation.

In addition to these two new modules, the Equalis Pro and Pro Plus subscriptions also include comprehensive user support featuring the Equalis SOS portal, e-mail access to the Equalis expert support team, and accelerated bug fixes. In addition the Equalis Pro Plus subscriptions also include global real-time support capabilities in numerous time zones and languages.

Equalis Pro and Pro Plus solutions are available with prices starting at just $495 and $995 per user respectively. Existing Equalis subscribers can download these new versions from the company’s customer portal.

"Our recent product introductions in signal processing and communication systems have quickly gained momentum in the market”, said Carmine Napolitano, CEO and Co-founder, Equalis. "These new products further broaden our value proposition to a wider audience of electrical, systems, hardware, test and verification engineers.”
