CDS Case Study on QTC Success with CAD Downloads and 3DModelSpace Available

CDS (Catalog Data Solutions, Inc.) today released a case study on the QTC implementation of the CDS CAD download solution and use of www.3DModelSpace.com for CAD Model SEO and SEM.

QTC is a Garden City Park, New York, based operating division of Designatronics Incorporated, a company that began in 1960 as a manufacturer of small mechanical products. QTC is a supplier of power transmission components designed for use in industrial automation applications. Their product range includes the largest selection of off-the-shelf metric gears in the USA in addition to a large selection of timing belts, timing belt pulleys, tensioning devices and gearheads. Responding to customer requests for CAD models of products QTC started offering 3D CAD models of parts for download in 2007 to boost online and offline sales by saving designers’ time and getting products spec’d into new designs.”

“Since 2007 our CAD model downloads have climbed steadily from 500/month to 1000/month to over 2000/month and now, in just the first 5 months of 2012, we’ve had over 12,000 CAD downloads generated,” said Brian Dengel, General Manager, QTC. “It’s also interesting to see where our website traffic comes from. 3DModelspace is like Google for CAD, the model data is all on our website and just the keywords and appropriate links are on the search engine. The results are fantastic, 3DModelSpace is by far our top referring site with nearly 30% of total click-throughs to QTCGears.com - we are getting nearly 1200 click-through/month. About 2/3rd of these click-through are the result of ‘natural’ search on 3DModelSpace.com and 1/3rd result from our ads on 3DModelSpace.com so our results are 50% better as a result of advertising on 3DModelSpace.”
