AIDC to Develop Composite Parts for Leading Aerospace Manufacturers with Siemens PLM Software Technology

Siemens PLM Software today announced that Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), a supplier to the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers, has purchased the latest version of the Fibersim™ portfolio of software for composites engineering. AIDC will be able to seamlessly transfer customers’ computer-aided design (CAD) files into Fibersim to drive manufacturing processes as well as to develop flat patterns and laser data files.

AIDC supports Taiwan’s national defense industry and is that country’s supplier to the world’s aerospace companies, such as Boeing, Bombardier, General Electric and Airbus. It is experienced in the use of leading edge technologies, materials and manufacturing processes in the development of today’s most advanced aircraft programs. For more than a decade AIDC has depended on the use of Fibersim to engineer composite parts and now, motivated by the need to keep pace with an anticipated increase in workload for current and future aircraft programs, AIDC resolved that Fibersim 2012 would be the most effective solution to develop skin panels, frames, doors and stringers.

“Fibersim has a long track record of success in the aerospace industry, and that was a big consideration in this purchase,” said Mike Lee, special assistant to the chairman of AIDC. “The new version of Fibersim makes it easier to manage the development of large parts. It can help us save time and avoid errors. Overall, we expect that it will enable us to achieve better efficiency and quality when designing and manufacturing composite parts.”

“AIDC is a premier supplier to the aerospace industry, especially in the area of composites, so I think its confidence in Fibersim 2012 says a lot,” said John O’Connor, director of aerospace product & market strategy for the Specialized Engineering Software business segment of Siemens PLM Software. “We have a long history of collaborating with AIDC on composite development activities and we look forward to working with them to meet the challenges of their growing workload.”

AIDC will use Fibersim to work specifically with CATIA® software CAD data.
