Visual 2000 Advances Design-PLM Integration with New Adobe Illustrator Plug-In

Visual 2000 International Inc. announces immediate availability of an advanced Adobe® Illustrator® Plug-In for Visual PLM.net®. This technology goes beyond earlier integration efforts to enable fashion designers and developers to take full advantage of popular Illustrator design capabilities to quickly and easily launch new products for further development in PLM. When installed on either a Mac® or PC computer, the new plug-in automatically makes images and selected product and style information created in Illustrator immediately available for use in Visual PLM.net. Images and information subsequently added in PLM is likewise viewable in Illustrator.

“Because Illustrator is so widely used, this represents a significant improvement in both usability and process workflow for fashion designers and developers”, explained Charles Benoualid, Vice President of Research and Development. “This advancement moves us beyond simple integration to full interoperability between the two systems. Our clients will benefit immediately from the time savings, elimination of rework, and improvements in product collaboration.”

The Adobe Illustrator Plug-In is available free of charge to all current Visual PLM.net customers. It will also be delivered as a standard component with new Visual 2000 PLM and End-2-End™ systems.

With the new plug-in, design and development teams can now launch new concepts and styles by creating designs, colors, storyboards, and other product components within Illustrator. New drop-down menu options added by the plug-in also allow Illustrator users to enter descriptive information about the new product, including product code, type, division, sales period, and other basic details. When developers open the newly created style in Visual PLM.net, all related images and information are ready in place and ready for further development. Bi-directional capabilities of the new tool also allow Illustrator users to view style information and images added in PLM. All information is automatically maintained in pre-determined locations to ensure easy access by authorized team members.
