Speaker Lineup for CIMdata’s PLM Road Map™ 2012 Announced

CIMdata, Inc., the leading global Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) management consulting and research firm announces details of the speaker lineup for its PLM Road Map™ 2012 conference, to be held on October 2nd & 3rd at The Inn at St. John’s, located in Plymouth, Michigan. Now in its nineteenth year, this highly acclaimed event offers a program that delivers expanded analysis of the year’s most critical business and technology issues in PLM.

The theme for this year’s conference is “PLM as THE Strategic Imperative – Managing Lifecycle Complexity to Drive Competitive Advantage.” The conference kicks off with CIMdata’s President, Peter Bilello, providing an introduction to the global PLM economy. This presentation will be followed by Ford Motor Company’s Mark Johnson, who will look at why implementing PLM is so difficult by exploring some of its challenges, and will explain why PLM solutions must adapt and evolve to meet the needs of systems engineering’s ever-increasing complexity. EADS’ Tristan Gegaden will then consider best practices related to large-scale PLM program governance, as experienced in the PHENIX (PLM Harmonization for Enhanced Integration and Excellence) program. Georgia Institute of Technology’s Dimitri Mavris will show how a systems engineering approach can be used in the conceptual design and development of aircraft. The morning will conclude with a presentation by industry expert Jon Hirschtick, who will offer his personal take on where the CAD business has been, and more importantly where it needs to go.

A series of conference breakout sessions will follow focusing in greater detail on PLM integration, geometric modeling, simulation and analysis, mechatronics, digital manufacturing, PLM management, and PLM education. Each breakout track will offer a range of stimulating, in-depth presentations made by a dynamic group of speakers who will share not only their first-hand experiences in addressing key PLM issues, but also how they are gaining true business value from their PLM investments.

The conference will conclude on Wednesday afternoon with a plenary session featuring presentations that will show how to leverage services for successful PLM. Opening the afternoon, Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) John Knight-Gregson will share the PLM transformation journey that JLR has embarked on to reconnect management to the product, by making data more accessible and better related to the virtual product. Dana Holding Company’s Frank Popielas will then consider the role simulation governance is expected to play in the future of product development and systems engineering. Finally, automotive expert Dr. David E. Cole will highlight the dramatic changes occurring in the automotive industry – from the new evolving business model to the exploding importance of knowledge and innovation.

PLM Road Map 2012 is the must-attend event for industry executives and PLM practitioners globally—providing independent education and a collaborative networking environment where ideas, trends, experiences, and relationships critical to the industry germinate and take root. It is a strategic conference focused on how companies are successfully employing PLM strategies and enabling solutions to meet challenging product development, manufacturing, and deployment issues. PLM Road Map 2012 is a two-day event that will challenge attendees to shift their current thinking to a new level in a series of presentations focusing on the global transformation of product development and innovation processes. PLM Road Map 2012 is the leading international event that helps companies leverage cross-disciplinary and cross-industry knowledge and feedback to smooth and speed their PLM journeys.
