Dimensional Control Systems Brings Variation Analysis Capabilities to SolidWorks 2012 3D Design Solution

Dimensional Control Systems (DCS) today announced that its 3DCS Variation Analyst Multi-CAD solution supports SolidWorks® 2012 3D design software with new capabilities for variation analysis.

3DCS Variation Analyst Multi-CAD is the ideal tool for detailed tolerance simulation modeling, and allows manufacturers to thoroughly appraise design, fabrication and assembly robustness by quickly evaluating GD&T, assembly tooling and build sequencing well ahead of production release.

SolidWorks 2012 is focused on optimizing core design functions so users can work more efficiently and have the data they need to make better design decisions throughout the product development process. It also includes hundreds of new enhancements specifically requested by customers.

Designers and engineers will use 3DCS Variation Analyst Multi-CAD and SolidWorks software to predict the dimensional variability of their designs and assembly processes so that manufacturing issues can be resolved before production, with optimized tolerances and assembly methods.

A SolidWorks Solution Partner Product, 3DCS Variation Analyst Multi-CAD, allows users to work directly with the CAD data to quickly and easily create tolerance models. The combination of 3DCS and SolidWorks 2012 brings high-level tools together into a shared environment in order to promote better productivity, efficiency and product quality.

“3DCS delivers the dimensional analysis engineers need,” said SolidWorks Senior Alliances & Partnership Manager Nick Iwaskow. “When leveraged together, 3DCS and SolidWorks’ software’s give engineers the innovative tools and productivity to streamline product development and be more successful.”

“As a SolidWorks Solution Partner, we are now providing a solution package that utilizes the environment and tools of SolidWorks CAD in conjunction with our Variation Analysis software to deliver a more robust product design and improved manufacture-ability,” said DCS Executive VP & COO John Mathieson. “We are continually researching these kinds of partnerships as a means of delivering a complete solution to our mutual customers’ needs.”
