CADD Edge to Kick Off Annual SolidWorks User Conference with Talk of Flying Cars
SolidWorks® software reseller CADD Edge announced today that Samuel Schweighart, Co-Founder and Technical Fellow at Terrafugia, creators of the Transition, the world’s first practical ‘flying car,’ will serve as their annual user event’s keynote speaker. Dr. Schweighart received his MS and Ph.D. from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT and holds his BS from the University of Illinois. He is also a private pilot and active hang glider pilot.
The 2012 CADD Edge Training & User Event takes place Thursday-Friday, November 8-9, 2012, at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, CT and follows the release of SolidWorks 2013, the newest version of Dassault Systems SolidWorks’ CAD solution set. To kick off the 2-day, multi-track training event, Dr. Schweighart’s presentation will discuss the design and development processes behind Terrafugia’s innovative ‘roadable aircraft,’ as well as how SolidWorks and related engineering solutions have facilitated those processes and enabled rapid and continuous development.
Dr. Schweighart’s presentation promises to be an exemplary case-in-point to the event’s theme - “Your Search for Answers Ends Here”. “SolidWorks has been critical for creating the Transition and instrumental in terms of analysis and heading off potential manufacturing issues during – not after – design.” said Schweighart. He added: “We’ve been working with CADD Edge since 2008 when we adopted SolidWorks, and they have consistently and reliably delivered superior training, support, and service.”
Following the keynote presentation by Dr. Schweighart on Thursday, November 8th, attendees will be able to choose from 35+ live training breakouts covering SolidWorks 2013, as well as all facets of 3D CAD design, FEA design validation, CAD/CAM, product data and product lifecycle management, 3D printing and rapid prototyping, design automation, and solids modeling. Other partners that are sponsoring the conference include: Objet / Stratasys, HP, NVIDIA, Altium, Omnify, Tacton Systems, DriveWorks, and Extensible CAD (Inspection Xpert).
