Sescoi: Productivity Solutions @EuroMOLD Include the Latest Developments in WorkNC CAD/CAM Solutions and a Preview of WorkNC Robot

Engineers wishing to get a preview of next year’s WorkNC V22 will want to visit Sescoi’s booth (Hall 8 F22) co-located with partner, Ingersoll, at the upcoming EuroMOLD exhibition in Frankfurt. As well as its flagship WorkNC CAD/CAM software, the company will also be previewing its new WorkNC Robot software. Additionally, visitors will be able to enjoy demos of all the latest developments in WorkNC CAD Hybrid Modeling, WorkNC Wire EDM, WorkNC Electrode, WorkNC Dental, WorkXPlore 3D Viewer V3 and the WorkPLAN ERP system.

Sescoi Engineers will be demonstrating the new WorkNC Robot software which can handle robot applications with as many as 15-axes. Normally the robot needs to be taught the desired moves, and this can take as much as three weeks to complete. With WorkNC Robot the same task can be completed in little over an hour, and the simulation and collision checking will be right first time. WorkNC Robot can be used for milling, laser hardening, welding, trimming and polishing applications

Next year’s V22 version of WorkNC CAD/CAM features a number of advanced stamping die toolpaths. These include new Flat Surface Roughing and Finishing strategies which will shorten cycle times, improve quality and simplify programming without the need for a stock model. For vertical walls, a new Wall Finishing strategy makes it easy by drilling down the length of the vertical surface, new Tangent to Curve machining is ideal for features on 2D parts and stamping tools, and the new Chamfering toolpath makes cutting a chamfer safe and simple.

For 3D applications, new surface machining strategies have been designed with automotive applications in mind. These will further enhance the quality of the part and include features such as ISO machining, avoidance of waterfall moves, automatic collision testing and Z level moves in Pencil Trace operations where necessary.

For 5-axis machining the previous 12 strategies have been simplified down to six, rationalizing the programming. Furthermore, toolpath rapid movements and moves to a safe position can now be graphically edited, allowing the optimum safe cutterpath to be generated while considering the machine kinematics.

Sescoi will also be running live machining demonstrations on its booth. A Hermle C30 5-axis machine will be used to mill a scale model of the record-breaking PlanetSolar boat which sailed around the world using just solar power. German Boat builder Knierim Tooling produced the full sized molds for the hull and deck of this remarkable craft using WorkNC CAD/CAM.

Other showcase parts milled with WorkNC CAD/CAM 5-axis, including Ironman, Spiderman and Mr Incredible, have been travelling to all the world’s top shows and creating buzz in social media. Visitors can see these parts on the Sescoi booth and even have their photo taken with their favorite character for posting on the WorkNC Facebook page.

WorkNC engineers will share their expertise at Euromold’s Rapid Prototyping Lecture Forum delivering a free presentation on ‘Short Tools - Innovative manufacturing with WorkNC’.

Also being demonstrated on the Sescoi booth, WorkNC Electrode benefits from WorkNC CAD’s solid modeling making it easy to extract electrodes from the geometry and keep the datum right through the manufacturing process. Standard libraries of electrode holders and the ability to machine across multiple electrodes in one setting will further speed up production while ensuring high quality. The WorkNC Wire EDM CAD/CAM software also draws on the modeling capabilities, as sections for 4-axis wire cut operations are extracted directly from the geometry. Features such as part tagging, multiple roughing and finishing cuts and slug destruction simplify the process.

WorkNC Dental has been designed for the easy and automatic machining of dental prostheses for dental technicians who are not machining experts. The fully open dental CAD/CAM system is capable of machining a very wide range of materials, yet gives the user the flexibility to generate new techniques. At the show, visitors will be able to see the latest developments in the 5-axis implantology module for customized abutments and watch a 5-axis dental part being machined live on a Datron D5.

Sescoi’s design engineers will be demonstrating the recently released Version 3 of WorkXPlore 3D, Sescoi’s high speed 3D viewing, mark-up and analysis software. This system provides a low cost way of importing and sharing model data from multiple CAD systems. New in V3 is Brep technology which increases accuracy and makes it easy to interrogate edges and points, even on scanned STL data. Extra import and export capabilities include STEP and IGES export and JT and Autodesk Inventor import, further increasing the large number of compatible CAD formats supported by WorkXPlore 3D.

Version 3 of WorkPLAN Solutions has added to the capability of the ERP system for controlling management tasks and providing transparency throughout the production process, by including a customer relationship management module. The CRM makes it easy to manage sales opportunities, quotations, contacts and prospects. Additionally, live data feeds produce up to date and accurate management information and mobile applications make it possible to run and interrogate the system on the move.
