InfiniteSkills Release "Learning Autodesk Revit Families Training Video" - Taught By Leading Expert

Software training firm InfiniteSkills Inc. this week introduced its "Learning Autodesk Revit Families Tutorial," an advanced course for Revit users that teaches how to create and use custom objects—families—in the Revit environment.

"Families" is the term Revit applies to all the objects within a design. Certain classes of families are usable only within a given project. However, others can be created for use across multiple projects and shared within a company or even as an industry standard.

The InfiniteSkills Learning Autodesk Revit Families Tutorial teaches everything students and professionals need to know to begin designing and sharing object families, creating custom CAD standards.

Course author Simon Whitbread is a professional in architecture and building services. He has near twenty years of experience in the CAD industry setting up CAD systems and standards. Since 2002, Whitbread has been focused specifically in Revit training and implementation for a major Autodesk solutions provider.

"I'd like to take you on a journey," Whitbread says. "It begins with the Revit family interface and the tools for creating objects and carries through to a series of exercises aimed to display a variety of techniques and best practices that will aid you in becoming a master of family creation."

Whether using Revit as a smart drafting and documentation tool, or in a multi-disciplinary project environment, consistency is a crucial element in computer assisted design.

Revit families accomplish just that goal, and Whitbread covers all the skills and concepts you need to efficiently and quickly begin using families in your workflow.

With InfiniteSkills' Learning Revit Families Video Training, students begin with with an introduction to Revit families and an overview of the Family Editor interface tools. From there, Whitbread explains in detail with how to create families and plan families for specific projects, including using Revit templates. Following chapters cover parameters, formulas, and how to add detail to models.

The course concludes with chapters dedicated to special family-types such as electrical and plumbing fixtures, how to annotate families, and use Revit's data importing capabilities.

"I really appreciate the opportunity to help people learn," Whitbread says, and especially creating consistent objects is crucial. It allows you to link your standards with company or industry standards. So what you create can benefit a larger community of users."
