Synergis Student Competitions Open for a Third Year

Synergis Engineering Design Solutions, a division of Synergis Technologies, Inc., announced registration is now open for two Synergis student design competitions for secondary school students in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

To further promote engineering design in schools and recognize students for their design talents and skills, Synergis created these competitions. Now in their third year, over 100 students from 20 schools have been involved, with the winning designs being presented during Synergis University, an annual technology event that pulls over 200 engineering professionals across the region.

The Synergis Architectural Design Competition focuses on real-world situations in architecture and construction today.  This year, students will learn adaptive reuse while redesigning a small-town Main Street building into a children's museum.  Creativity is built in with very few requirements for the space so students will be able to design with their own interests in mind. The Synergis-F1 Design Competition follows the Pennsylvania F1 rules to design a CO2 powered model racing car.

"We are excited to see this year's designs.  Last year, the first-place students from Montgomery High School, NJ impressed design professionals at Synergis University with their presentation and design ideas," said Kristen Tomasic, vice president of Synergis Engineering Design Solutions. "Each year we've had more schools participate and we are hoping to see even more teams engaged this year. This is one of our favorite student events and we look forward to the competition, the design submissions, and the students' involvement in Synergis University."

Entries are due March 1, 2013 for Synergis-F1 and April 15, 2013 for the Synergis Architectural Design Competition. The winning design teams get $1,000 and will present their designs to professionals at Synergis University on June 5, 2013.  For further information on these design competitions, please visit www.synergis.com/industries/education.
