CONTACT Joins the European Research Project U-QASAR
CONTACT Software is assuming a key role in the U-QASAR research project, which was launched in October 2012. The aim of the project, which is being funded by the European Commission, is to develop a universal web tool for quality assurance in software development. CONTACT will deliver an appropriate business case and test the new solution as a pilot user. A total of eight companies and research institutions from five European countries are participating in this research project, which is being coordinated by the Spanish technology consulting company Innopole. U-QASAR will run for three years and has a budget of 4 million Euros.
U-QASAR intends to create a tool based on open standards that will allow software manufacturers to monitor and measure the quality of their development processes and products at any time. This will make it possible to detect and resolve problems early. With the description of its own products and the associated software development tasks, processes, methods and tools, CONTACT provides the basis for deriving the requirements for the new QS tool. The PLM provider will also provide test data as well as test and evaluate the solution with regard to its practical benefits.
"This time we're representing the user's perspective and foresee a tool that will provide even better support for our work," says Dr. Jan Kickstein, who as head of application development also oversees the research projects. "And if this allows us to bring our software solutions to market faster and with a higher level of quality, our customers in turn will also benefit."
The companies and research institutions CONTACT and ATB (Germany), SINTEF (Norway), Aalto University and VAIBMU (Finland), Intrasoft (Luxembourg) and Innopole and MTP (Spain) are participating in U-QASAR. The project name stands for "Universal Quality Assurance in Software Applications with volatile Requirements“.
