AVEVA Joins Universiti Malaysia Pahang’s Inaugural CEO Roundtable

AVEVA announced that it has participated at Universiti Malaysia Pahang’s (UMP’s) inaugural CEO Roundtable Meeting at Seri Pacific, Kuala Lumpur, on 15 March 2013. AVEVA’s Senior Vice-President for SEA and Australasia, Pn. Rozita Mohd Nor, took part in the roundtable which explored and identified the latest employment requirements and industry standards to prepare the graduates of today to become the professionals of tomorrow. UMP has recently extended its use of AVEVA PDMS on its course entitled ‘AVEVA PDMS Operator Training’ for design engineers in the oil & gas and process plant industries.

'UMP’s programmes are designed to serve the needs of industry, so it is important to understand current requirements and trends,' said Professor Dr. Zulkefli Yaacob, Director, Industry Partnership and Community Relation Division, UMP. 'This roundtable was a good platform for UMP to showcase what we can offer industry today and in future. AVEVA’s software represents one of the core study areas at UMP, so we are honoured to have had their presence at the event.'

'AVEVA PDMS 3D design software has been used on various undergraduate research projects by UMP since their oil & gas industry partners introduced them to our technology in 2010,' added Rozita Mohd Nor. 'We are very happy to be part of UMP’s strategic plan to raise the profile of engineering within education curricula and to meet the demand for skilled engineers in the country. Through AVEVA’s Academic Initiative we work with a range of educational institutions, from local vocational training centres to postgraduate universities, to develop engineering skills that benefit students, employers and the global economy.'

The event was also supported by other prominent companies represented by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Agilent Solutions Malaysia, Sapura Kencana, Infeneon Technologies, Mieco Marketing, Motorola Solutions Malaysia, Silterra, Sime Darby Groups, Malaysian Automotive Industry, Swagelok Malaysia, Miyazu and IBM Malaysia. The Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR) also sent their representative to share their views.
