AVEVA Honoured at Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards

AVEVA announced today that it has been named Business of the Year 2013 at the Cambridge News Business Excellence awards which took place Thursday 21 March at Kings College, Cambridge. Chosen from a list of prestigious Cambridgeshire companies, the award recognises an organisation that has led the way in 2012 in terms of growth, diversification or consolidation.

“Winning Business of the Year is a real testament to how the AVEVA team made 2012 a great year,” said Richard Longdon, CEO, AVEVA. “2012 marked our 45th anniversary, we are growing rapidly and we have just released some of the most exciting technology in the company’s history. This accolade is a direct reflection of our commitment to significant and sustained R&D investment, commercial achievement and a solid growth strategy. We currently employ 1300 staff around the world, of whom 300 are based in our Cambridge headquarters, making us a truly global company that keeps its roots firmly in the region. We are still on the same site where we started those 45 years ago.

“Our customers are in the process plant, power and marine industries and rely on our software to create and operate the world’s most complex engineering assets. We continually strengthen our product portfolio through both in-house development and the acquisition and integration of industry-leading technologies. It’s wonderful that the dedicated efforts of our AVEVA colleagues have been recognised by the panel of judges.”

In 2012 AVEVA announced the release of AVEVA Everything3D (AVEVA E3D) and AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management (AVEVA ERM). AVEVA E3D drives the adoption of Lean Construction by enabling Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors (EPCs) to break down barriers between design and construction, reducing project costs, schedules and risk. AVEVA ERM gives EPCs and shipbuilders a next-generation resource management solution enabling them to minimise risk and maximise profit, while delivering projects on time and within budget.

Also in 2012, AVEVA made two strategic acquisitions, bocad and Global Majic, which added to its business growth and technology assets. Bocad produces market-leading software for structural steel detailing. The software will be tightly integrated with the AVEVA Plant and AVEVA Marine solutions. Global Majic’s advanced visualisation and simulation software complements AVEVA’s existing visualisation technology. It provides a highly realistic, immersive 3D environment that enables intuitive access to virtual plant facilities for operational purposes such as training or the planning of maintenance and inspection programmes.
