Japan: Cooperation between CONTACT Software and TECOSIM Bears Fruit

CONTACT Software and TECOSIM Japan have introduced the Fast Concept Modelling toolset (FCM) at several Japanese automobile manufacturers. In Japan, the specialist in numerical analysis and simulation acts as a reseller for CONTACT's innovative concept tool which can be used to validate the future behavior of products even during early development phases. CONTACT and TECOSIM have already been cooperating in Germany for a number of years. In the recent past, for example, they worked together on the electrical StreetScooter vehicle, which was specially designed for short journeys, and are now cooperating in the recently launched "Robust Design Optimization" joint project, which is supported by the German Ministry for Economics and Technology (BMWi).

TECOSIM is a much sought-after international development partner in the field of computer-aided engineering (CAE) and is a market leader in the transport segment. The group of companies has its head office in Rüsselsheim and has subsidiaries in Great Britain, India and Japan. In line with the corporate claim "Better life by simulation", a team of approximately 400 computational engineers worldwide develops solutions for the business fields transport, energy, industry and technology, and health. The company's CAE specialists use a range of simulation tools to support customers by identifying the future behavior of components during the early stages of product development and interpret the data accordingly.

With FCM, CONTACT offers a CATIA add-on that permits the simple, rapid development of geometrical models and the automatic export of FE models for crash, NVH and static analyses. "CAE is the route to better products, shorter development cycles, reduced resource consumption and lower environmental impact," says Yukiyoshi Taguchi, managing director of TECOSIM Japan. "The use of FCM further accelerates the process from initial product idea through to validated concept, with the result, that our customers benefit from even greater time and cost advantages."
