OR Laser and LEDAS Sign Long-term Service and Consulting Agreement

OR Laser, inventor and producer of innovative laser systems for welding, marking and engraving, and LEDAS, the provider of CAD/CAM research and development services, today announced the signing of a long-term service and consulting agreement. The agreement is aimed at developing new software for automated laser systems manufactured by OR Laser.

“The first stage of our collaboration is solving the challenge of computing optimal tool trajectories automatically,“ said Uri Resnik, co-founder and vice president of OR Laser. “The resulting software will be integrated with our Autoweld product that interacts with CNC machines.”

OR Laser began as a hardware company making lasers, but as the world focuses more on the capabilities of software, the company is strengthening its line of software products. OR Laser has long-term research and development plans that involve tasks such as reconstructing surfaces from point clouds and recognizing particular geometric patterns. As a result, the company chose LEDAS for its ability to provide high quality research and development services. Short statement of work was already accomplished by LEDAS before signing of long-term agreement.

“We are proud to be involved in the development of innovative laser CAM solutions,” said Alexey Ershov, chief executive officer of LEDAS. “Our team at LEDAS has experience in developing software for many CAM processes, including punching, water jet and laser cutting, molding, drilling, and milling. It is great to be able to broaden our range of expertise to new laser processes.”

“OR Laser’s development plans are challenging,” he continued, “and so we will be using all the technological expertise we have in computational geometry, along with the practical experience we have attained while developing and marketing of products, such as constraint solver and variational direct modeler.”
