Dassault Systèmes Promotes Innovation as Platinum Sponsor of EyesOn Design at North American International Auto Show

Dassault Systèmes announced its continued support of the Detroit Institute of Opthamology (DIO) with a platinum level sponsorship of the 2013 EyesOn Design program held at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) program on Tuesday, Jan. 15 on the Atrium Stage at Cobo Hall. Additionally, Dassault Systèmes Vice President of Design Experience, Anne Asensio, will be on the event’s judging panel, as well as presenting the Best Concept Vehicle Award. Dassault Systèmes has partnered with the DIO since the inception of this fundraising event in 2005.

As in past years, the majority of vehicles at the 2013 North American International Auto Show have been designed using the Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform’s CATIA application. “Dassault Systèmes has always been a pioneer in 3D vehicle development solutions that unleash creative potential,” said Asensio, previously Executive Director of General Motors Advance Design. “We are honored to support EyesOn Design and believe it fits perfectly with our goal of providing leading edge solutions that enable design innovation.”

The 2013 EyesOn Design Awards honor the most significant automotive designs on display at NAIAS 2013 as determined by global leaders of design from automotive OEMs, academic chairs of transportation design programs and design leaders from other fields. These awards recognize the skill and creativity of today's most gifted designers in the areas of Aesthetics and Innovation, Concept Implementation, Functionality and Spirit of Industrial Design. Awarded in production and concept categories, the EyesOn Design Awards are coveted by automotive designers as validation of their exceptional designs.

Presented by the Detroit Institute of Opthalomology, the EyesOn Design Awards serve as an extension of the DIO's annual EyesOn Design automotive exhibition held each June to honor and celebrate the past, present and future of automotive design. In addition to recognizing major design achievement in the automotive industry, funds raised by both EyesOn Design events support the DIO's mission to assist and educate the visually impaired, help preserve vision by public and professional education and support research related to the eye.

Visitors to the EyesOn Design event can experience the power of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform used to design many vehicles at the NAIAS through live demonstrations that will be held near the Atrium Stage.
