MakerBot® and Autodesk® at Maker Faire San Mateo

WHO:

MakerBot and Autodesk Inc. will be at the Bay Area Maker Faire on May 18 and 19. MakerBot, a leader in desktop 3D printing, and Autodesk, a leader in 3D design software, showcase a more tightly integrated partnership that brings together 3D printed items you can design using one of the Autodesk® 123D® family of apps and then print in 3D on a MakerBot® Replicator® 2 Desktop 3D Printer.

Items being showcased in the Autodesk booth at Maker Faire will include creative and fun 3D characters and creatures designed using the Autodesk® 123D® Creature app and printed in 3D, as well as “Fix It” items designed with other Autodesk 123D apps to help repair broken household items and/or make life easier around the home. All are printed in 3D on a MakerBot® Replicator® 2 Desktop 3D Printer.

WHAT:

MakerBot and Autodesk have partnered to market 3D design software and 3D printing hardware consumers, makers, creators, and artists. This collaboration includes the resale of MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printers in connection with Autodesk 123D membership offerings and facilitates connecting MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printers with the Autodesk 123D family of apps. The goal is to make the process of realizing a user’s 3D design through 3D printing on MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printers even easier than before. The MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer marketed by Autodesk will include customized Autodesk-themed artwork for the faceplate and build plate.

Autodesk and MakerBot are working together to help enable Autodesk 123D members to easily 3D print a model to their MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer from the 123D web gallery or by using their own designs created using Autodesk 123D apps. The Autodesk 123D family of apps—which includes the 123D® Catch, 123D® Creature, 123D® Design, and 123D® Make apps —help to capture, design and make their ideas, and connect with other makers for support or inspiration. According to MakerBot, the MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer is its easiest, fastest, and most affordable tool for creating 3D prints, setting a new standard in resolution and accuracy for creating high quality models.
