LMS Test.Lab Rev 13 Helps Aviation and Space Engineers Take Testing to New Heights

LMS, which was recently acquired by Siemens and is now a business segment within Siemens PLM Software, announces a new release of its popular LMS Test.Lab engineering suite for test data acquisition and analysis. LMS Test.Lab Rev 13 includes a range of new and improved solutions to help engineers test more efficiently, without compromising accuracy. Highlights for the aviation and space industry include enhanced acoustics measurement and new acoustic control solutions, advanced solutions for structural dynamics testing and a fully integrated collaborative data management solution.

“While the complexity of aerospace engineering keeps growing, engineers are facing ever-greater pressure to reduce the cost of development and testing. LMS Test.Lab is designed to make testing more efficient and, as such, boost a test facility’s productivity, while delivering reliable results and valuable engineering insight. With Revision 13 of LMS Test.Lab we continue along this path, adding new capabilities that enable users to speed up and further refine the testing process – from test data acquisition to result sharing and analysis,” commented Bruno Massa, Vice-President of LMS Test Division.

New levels of acoustics testing

Aviation engineers will appreciate how LMS Test.Lab Rev 13 helps them optimize aircraft acoustics through fast and accurate Sound Source Localization solutions. From the new LMS 3D Camera with microphone extensions for low-frequency noise analysis to enhanced algorithms for fly-over noise source identification and improved solutions for aero-acoustics and wind tunnel testing, Rev 13 takes acoustics testing to a higher level.

Committed to spacecraft engineering and satellite qualification testing, LMS implements a new solution that facilitates the accurate reproduction of launch acoustic environment levels in a large reverberation room. It enables engineers to test the robustness of a satellite and guarantee it survives the acoustics loads that occur during launch.

Continued innovation for vibration engineering

Revision 13 of LMS Test.Lab includes a series of new features that further elevate LMS’ structural dynamic testing solution, which is widely considered to be the most complete on the market. Besides the new LMS PolyMAX Plus modal analysis estimator, the possibilities for modal analysis have been extended with analysis on strain gauge data. Especially suited for the analysis of structures like helicopter blades or wind tunnel tests, the new functionality provides engineers with additional insights into strain patterns and using the same transducers as those used in-flight.

Integrated data management solution

To make LMS Test.Lab Rev 13 complete, LMS integrated a full data management solution. Designed specifically for engineering departments, the data management solution helps testing engineers with data collection, annotation, storage and sharing. As all the data is now stored on a central server, everyone involved in testing analysis and interpretation of results can easily search and access all the information, in real time. The thin web client allows data access and collaboration from any mobile internet connection.
