Tata Technologies signs MoU with BITS Pilani

Tata Technologies today signed a MoU with Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani to design and implement specialized educational programmes for skill development of engineering professionals, students and faculty.

Tata Technologies would support existing BITS industry interface programs such as Practice School I & II for internships and Industry Immersion for faculty refreshers. BITS would run specialized programmes created with expert industry perspective and inputs from Tata Technologies; leading to specific degrees of BITS through its off-campus Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP). 

Prof. G Sundar, Senior Professor, Chemistry, Deputy Director, Off-Campus Programmes,  BITSPilani said; “Industry relevant education, in close collaboration with industry, has been a cornerstone of the educational philosophy of BITS Pilani for the last four decades. I am confident that the exciting multidimensional engagement that we are entering into with Tata Technologies will grow in strength, and prove mutually beneficial.”

Commenting on this significant development, Gopinath Jayaraj, President, Global Delivery, Tata Technologies said; “The engineering services industry has tremendous potential and there is a huge demand for top class, trained and experienced engineering talent across the globe. We are confident that our deep engineering & design, PLM and manufacturing IT domain knowledge combined with BITS Pilani’s renowned professional educational framework & methodology will help us develop industry-aligned programs that will significantly benefit students and the industry.”

As the first step, a select group of employees from Tata Technologies will undergo a specially designed Masters Program (MS) in Automotive Engineering from BITS. The employees enrolled in this programme will attend classes online through virtual classrooms without being dislocated from their work environment. The first batch will start in August 2013.
