MachineWorks expands its Support and Development

Sheffield-based MachineWorks Ltd, provider of CNC simulation and verification component software, has welcomed new members to its technical team.

A new developer will be involved in the design and implementation of algorithms for geometric modelling and computer graphics.

The MachineWorks development team is based in Sheffield. It includes  both  the original developers who wrote the first version of MachineWorks almost 20 years ago and an increasing stream of developers that has been broadening the team ever since.

The development team works together under the same roof, bouncing ideas off each other and pushing the boundaries of the code.  MachineWorks' cutting-edge technology is continuously being developed to improve performance, stability and accuracy.

By putting its customers at the centre of development requirements, MachineWorks has refined its offering to deliver a smooth integration of its multi-engine toolkit. It also takes advantage of technological advances such as multi-core processors via multi-threading.

Support has also seen a new addition to the team. The new team member will help to maintain the quality and stability of the code and improve further testing processes.

The support team takes care of MachineWorks' customers by holding regular meetings both face-to-face and virtually to ensure that all their needs are fulfilled.  This tight relationship helps to anticipate and resolve any issues that may arise.  The team has years of experience with the MachineWorks API and is able to automate processes to ensure fast turnaround and consistent quality of the code.  Scripting to automate testing, system building, regression testing and comparison builds are just some of the standard procedures that any patch or upgrade goes through before being released.  The testing protocol is rigorous and the available written documentation is extensive.

David Manley, Managing Director at MachineWorks says "We are delighted to grow our technical team and welcome the newcomers as part of the Sheffield team. As we expand the business into new markets such as robotics, metal forming, medical and 3D printing it is essential that we have the right people in place to meet the needs of current and future customers."

The highly skilled technical team includes mathematicians specialised in 3D geometry and 3D modelling, experts in graphic design and rendering, doctorates in a number of disciplines, computer scientists, programmer testers and quality assurance engineers.  Based in Sheffield, members of this broad international team have previously put their academic achievements to use in the fields of aeronautical engineering, automotive manufacturing and mechanical engineering.
