Agilent Profit Falls, Tops Sales Estimates
Agilent Technologies Inc. Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $168 million or $0.49 per share, compared with $243 million or $0.69 per share last year.
Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $233 million or $0.68 per share, compared with $278 million or $0.79 per share a year ago.
Revenues for the quarter were lower 4 percent at $1.65 billion, compared with $1.72 billion in the prior year. Thirteen analysts estimated revenues of $1.64 billion.
Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, Agilent expects adjusted earnings of $0.75 to $0.77 per share on revenues of $1.7 billion to $1.72 billion.
For fiscal year 2013, the company now expects adjusted earnings of $2.83 to $2.85 per share on revenues of $6.76 billion to $6.78 billion. It earlier estimated earnings of $2.70 to $2.85 per share on revenues of $6.75 billion to $6.85 billion.
