AVEVA PDMS Delivers Major New Piping Capabilities

AVEVA announced today that it has further strengthened its 3D plant design software product AVEVA PDMS. Responding to customer requests, the added enhancements further improve design efficiency on major capital projects.

Bruce Douglas, Senior Vice-President, EDS Strategy & Marketing, AVEVA comments, “These enhancements demonstrate a key part of our strategy to continuously develop PDMS while also offering customers our next generation design solution, AVEVA Everything3D. The focus for this release is piping improvements and enhanced integration.”

New functionality within the piping discipline greatly increases the productivity of detailed design and documentation for all kinds of tapping, boss and similar connections. The piping discipline also benefits from new pipe fabrication capabilities which extend the scope of PDMS into the fabrication process.

The integration enhancements include:

  • Improvements to AVEVA Schematic 3D Integrator, making it easier than ever before to build from, compare against, and work between P&IDs and 3D pipe design within PDMS.
  • Integration with Mechanical CAD systems that delivers significantly enhanced performance for PDMS models containing imported mechanical equipment
  • Integration between PDMS and AVEVA Bocad Steel making it faster and easier to integrate structural design and fabrication.

With this new release, customers are also offered an even wider choice of deployment options. PDMS, already proven as a highly flexible and configurable solution for the world’s most demanding design projects, is supported as Citrix Ready for the first time. This gives customers yet more flexibility in the way in which they configure and control projects and can even be combined with the use of the world-leading AVEVA Global technology on a single project.

AVEVA PDMS is a 3D design product within the AVEVA Plant portfolio. As part of AVEVA’s Integrated Engineering & Design approach, project efficiency is improved and engineering and design costs reduced by offering complementary products that draw on common processes, disciplines and deliverables, through a single managed information model.
