Webinar Replay About our Speaker
Four years ago, CIMdata presented an educational webinar entitled “Rip and Replace or Embrace and Extend to Enable a PLM Platform.” At that time, the emergence of true PLM platforms (often termed “Product Innovation Platforms” using a definition crafted by CIMdata, Gartner, and IDC) had begun to force many companies to consider replacing legacy PLM solutions that were no longer allowing them to keep up with the increasing demands of and changes to their businesses.
Over the last four years, CIMdata has supported PLM program assessments and platform evaluations that considered whether a company should stay with their current solution, enduring potentially a lengthy and costly upgrade (migration) process or replacing aging a legacy solution with a next-generation PLM solution and what that entailed. This webinar will highlight observations about the costs, risks, and rewards CIMdata observed in these consulting engagements.
Most solution providers have now embraced the concept of a Product Innovation Platform. Still, the degree to which they fit CIMdata’s definition varies as much as the degree to which their customers (new or old) can easily embrace it. Solutions aligned with CIMdata’s platform model promise a better way to define and deliver capabilities that can be configured into solutions and reconfigured as requirements change.
This webinar will first review the past research by CIMdata on assessing the long-term viability of PLM solutions and product innovation platforms:
Second, the webinar will offer real-world context by reviewing lessons learned over the last four years in providing consulting support for companies making this same decision.
During the webinar you’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions about the topics discussed.
The Guide is designed to help potential PLM users evaluate the applicability and payoffs of PLM in their enterprise, and to help existing users of PLM monitor the impact it is having on their product programs.
