Do any of the following statements sound familiar?
  • You have struggled with PLM due to its perceived complexity.
  • Your PLM program has stalled because management doesn’t see its benefits.
  • You have implemented a legacy solution due to over customization.
  • You see that customization is the only way to make things simple.
  • You don’t know where to start.

Our CIMdata colleague in Japan says it best, “Simple is Best.” A rather unassuming statement when you think about it, and at the same time, rather profound. So, why then do we tend to make things more complicated than they need to be? Whatever the reason, we need to remember that SIMPLE IS BEST even when it comes to PLM. So, why has PLM typically been so hard, and often not as intuitive to implement and use as it could and should be? After more than 30 years of commercially available solutions, which have supported major aspects of the product lifecycle from the beginning, why are they often overly complex to implement and use. There should be no doubt, simple is best when it comes to implementing PLM. There is no more straightforward way to put it. When the complex is made as simple as possible, ROI is maximized, and innovation flourishes. We will look at some of the reasons for PLM’s historical difficulties and how to best attack the problem so that we can make it simple and thereby maximize our PLM-related ROI.

What will I learn?
  • You will learn why we have made PLM complex so that we don’t repeat the mistakes of the past.
  • You will understand the difference between simple and easy.
  • You you learn how to find the right balance between automation, discipline, control, and ease of use.
  • You will gain an understanding of how keeping PLM simple starts with an appropriate and well-thought-out vision.
  • You will know what to Look for in a PLM solution.
Who should attend?
