So, why then do we tend to make things more complicated than they need to be? Whatever the reason, we need to remember that SIMPLE IS BEST even when it comes to PLM. So, why has PLM typically been so hard, and often not as intuitive to implement and use as it could and should be? After more than 30 years of commercially available solutions, which have supported major aspects of the product lifecycle from the beginning, why are they often overly complex to implement and use. There should be no doubt, simple is best when it comes to implementing PLM. There is no more straightforward way to put it. When the complex is made as simple as possible, ROI is maximized, and innovation flourishes. We will look at some of the reasons for PLM’s historical difficulties and how to best attack the problem so that we can make it simple and thereby maximize our PLM-related ROI.
