Oracle convened Oracle Live 2020, a series of focused virtual sessions that replace their Oracle OpenWorld 2020 in-person event. CIMdata had the pleasure of attending the Oracle Live: Cloud Applications sessions on September 29, including an analyst-only Q&A session with Mr. Steven Miranda, Oracle Executive Vice President for Applications.

CIMdata had the pleasure of attending Mendix World 2020, a virtual event delivered the 1st through 4th of September 2020. Mendix, a global leader in low-code application development and delivery, was acquired by Siemens AG in August 2018. Since then it has become core to the strategy for much of the Siemens Digital Industries Software’s Xcelerator portfolio, with a particular emphasis on supporting and enhancing Teamcenter and MindSphere.

Virtual commissioning enables a complete simulation of machine capabilities included software execution—validating functions and speeding verification processes. Solutions such as Siemens Mechatronics Concept Designer and Automation Designer provide a virtual machine control that interacts with geometric and simulation math models so machine operations can be realistically and reliably previewed before a physical machine is built.

The Siemens Xcelerator portfolio and the Advance Machine Engineering solution provide one stop shopping to get the capabilities necessary to design, develop, and operate a machine building business. Getting these tools from a single source helps ensure they can be used together with strong interoperability. CIMdata believes the AME solution can give machine builders a competitive advantage and should be on their evaluation list.

CIMdata recently had the opportunity to interview Mr. John Stevens, SVP Aerospace & Defense, Talisen Technologies, and Mr. Neil Lichty, Senior Technical Specialist, The Boeing Company, about their combined efforts to provide an OEM/Supplier collaboration solution that could support Boeing into the future. In addition, they hope to set a collaboration standard that all aerospace and defense companies can adopt.
