Aras announced they received a $70 million strategic investment led by Goldman Sachs Private Capital Investing (PCI) group, with participation from Silver Lake Kraftwerk,vand GE Ventures.

On November 20, 2018, PTC announced it had acquired Frustum, Inc., an advanced generative design software company for approximately US$70 million. Frustum develops and markets Generate, a generative design product that employs artificial intelligence (AI) to guide design solutions.

It found that Oracle PLM Cloud continues to expand its capabilities and installed base, including more explicit coverage of and support for fielded products using Oracle’s capabilities in IoT, analytics, and machine learning.

CIMdata had the pleasure to attend the 5th annual Autodesk Accelerate event in Toronto, Canada in September. As in past events, the crowd of approximately 275 was a good mix of Autodesk Fusion Lifecycle customers, prospects, partners, and Autodesk staff. The event was held at the MaRS Innovation.

The integration of Comet’s capabilities in the Aras PLM Platform will provide a way for organizations to connect simulation data—and simulation experts—to mainstream product engineering processes for access, reuse, and traceability of simulation results across the entire product lifecycle.

CIMdata recently attended the SAP Analyst Event in Chicago, IL. SAP’s views on the importance of the product and asset lifecycle are consistent with their previous messaging. Their solutions will help define and then rely on a network of digital twins, spanning the product lifecycle. SAP’s portfolio now includes formal requirements management capabilities that can enable traceability from requirements across the lifecycle, an offering that leverages IP from their Sybase acquisition. They plan to help manufacturers define and manage digital twins of every product manufactured.

CIMdata recently attended Siemens PLM Software’s 11th annual analyst conference in Boston, Massachusetts August 27 through 30, 2018. This event continues to expand as Siemens’ solution portfolio grows, with over 100 industry analysts and journalists in attendance.
