ZW3D today announced the availability of ZW3D 2014 Beta. Among the numerous new features and improvements, enhanced 3D CAD modeling with an improved History Manager and convenient Part Configuration is one of the most anticipated by all the ZW3D users. Improving Modeling Efficiency with Simplified History Manager The ZW3D 2014 Beta carries a much more powerful and traceable History Manager to record modeling procedures. It is able to display the whole design process in a flat history tree. In this new release, operations such as attribute and layer related operations, equation and variable settings, and point cloud operations have all been removed to keep the History Manager as simple as possible. Designers can control and review their modeling procedures more efficiently with such a clearer History Manage and smoother history replay. “The release of ZW3D 2014 Beta enables users to trace back every modeling procedure more efficiently.” said Colin Lin, Vice Director of

Continuing with its mission to provide every day opportunities for students to develop real-world engineering skills, PTC, today announced its continued support of FIRST ® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and the FIRST ® Robotics Competition (FRC®). Building on previous years, PTC will support seven regional FRC competitions throughout the United States and Israel in addition to sponsoring 77 FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC®) teams, 53 FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC®) teams, and five FIRST®LEGO® League (FLL®) teams during the 2013-2014 season. The FIRST Robotics Competition field and kit of parts for the after-school STEM program were designed using PTC Creo® software. The Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce indicates there will be 2.4 million jobs created in STEM fields in the U.S. by 2018, but only 25 percent of high-school students today complete basic math and engineering course work. The need for more graduates in science, technology, engineering and math is felt by many global manufacturers, which makes it critical that programs such

PDF Key takeaways: Siemens NX CAE delivers a comprehensive analysis environment for integrated multi-disciplinary simulation coupled with CAD and simulation data and process management Siemens has a vision to further integrate 1D simulation, test engineering, requirements management, and model-based systems engineering with these 3D design and simulation tools Such integrated simulation environments, which focus on the PLM data flow and process issues, should be considered in favor of “best-of-breed” strategies that focus primarily on depth-of-application features and functions Siemens NX CAE is gaining ground as a favored tool for advanced thermal analysis, particularly for space systems Almost 200 people attended the 3rd Annual NX CAE Symposium on November 5-6, 2013. The event was held on the campus of the University of Cincinnati, the birthplace of much of the SDRC I-DEAS technology, now the basis of the advanced analysis capabilities within the NX CAE portfolio.
