Hydrogenics Europe NV, a worldwide leader in designing, manufacturing, building and installing industrial and commercial hydrogen systems around the globe, has chosen Intergraph® SmartPlant® P&ID to improve efficiency and quality of their engineering data. The deal included an unprecedented customized interface between Intergraph SmartPlant P&ID and Hydrogenic's existing ERP system. The customized interface allows all engineering data captured in SmartPlant P&ID to be stored in the ERP system, making it available for all departments in the company. The key benefits include improved efficiency and enhanced data quality, as the possibility of human error is removed by data automation. The EDA Consortium (EDAC) has moved into the future to become the Electronic System Design (ESD) Alliance, an international association of companies providing goods and services throughout the semiconductor design ecosystem. During a launch event last night, Bob Smith, the ESD Alliance's executive director, unveiled its new name and mission that broadens EDAC's charter that was originally created to provide EDA companies with a forum to address cross-industry issues and promote the industry. Information technology firm Hexagon AB has acquired Aicon 3D Systems, a provider of optical and portable noncontact 3D measuring systems for industrial manufacturing.  Founded in 1990 and based in Braunschweig, Germany, Aicon serves automotive manufacturers and companies in the aerospace, shipbuilding, renewable energy and mechanical engineering markets. Its technology portfolio includes portable coordinate measuring machines for universal applications and specialized optical 3D measuring systems that enable efficient, high-precision monitoring, quality assurance and control in manufacturing production.  With over 140 employees, Aicon has a direct presence in Germany, subsidiaries in China, Korea, Japan, and the U.S. and a network of resellers worldwide supported by its field support resources.  Hexagon reported that Aicon will be fully consolidated as of April, and that company's sales for 2015 amounted to approximately €19 million.
