Dassault Systèmes and Meyer Werft, one of the world’s leading cruise ship builders, today announced that Meyer Werft is deploying Dassault Systèmes’ “On Time to Sea” and “Designed for Sea” industry solution experiences to more efficiently design and build its ocean-going cruise ships, enhance its innovation skills and expand its market leadership. This deployment reinforces the long-standing cooperation between the two companies. Specifically, it supports Meyer Werft’s new Technology and Development Center in Papenburg, announced in November 2015, which will pool most of the design and development work from its 500 designers and engineers who are shaping the new features and developments of its future cruise ships. Synopsys, Inc. announced that Axell, a leading fabless design company of graphics chips for interactive entertainment and industrial embedded systems, has switched to Synopsys' Design Compiler® RTL synthesis solution for their IC designs. AVEVA has announced that the leading Russian oil & gas cluster of Bashkortostan Republic has standardised on AVEVA’s Integrated Engineering & Design software solution. The cluster required a proven multi-discipline engineering and design solution for capital projects globally that would increase productivity and improve efficiency. The cluster is a group of companies that specialise in oil & gas including, energy-efficient technologies and precision engineering. All members of the cluster will use AVEVA software on all projects. The licenses, for all members of the cluster, will be funded by Government of the Russian Federation from an initiative called the Development of Petrochemical Territorial Cluster of Bashkortostan Republic. Worldwide sales of 3D Printing machines which produce metal parts were up +45% in Q3 2015 compared to the same period one year ago despite the woes in the overall Industrial/Professional 3D Printer market, according to figures released today by IT Market research company CONTEXT. Preliminary findings also show that shipments of metal 3D Printers alone have grown 51% so far in 2015 compared to the same period last year. While sales of metal 3D printers accounted for only 7% of the global 2,743 Industrial/Professional printer unit volume shipments in Q3, revenues from metal 3D Printers took 31% of the overall category total, up from 22% in Q3'14. Market leaders EOS, Concept Laser, 3D Systems, Optomec and SLM Solutions all showed year-on-year increases in metal 3D Printer shipments. Global software major Wipro on Friday announced it had won the Aegis Graham Bell award for developing a solution for the Internet of Things (IoT). "The solution enables flexible adaptation of data streams from a wide range of end devices to IoT platforms and data stores," the IT bellwether said in a statement here. The Aegis Graham Bell Award is the country's innovation award in the field of Telecom, Internet, Media and Entertainment (TIME) and Social, Mobility Analytics and Cloud (SMAC).
