Granta Design (Cambridge, U.K.) announced a wide-ranging series of free web seminars on topics related to materials information and materials engineering for engineering enterprises and university-level educators. More than 20 new webinars will be provided over the next four months, offering key insights into how enterprises can better manage and use vital materials information, and sharing ideas about how to enhance the teaching of materials in the engineering curriculum. For example, on Tuesday, Sept. 15, Granta’s collaborative project team will share experiences of supporting leading industry projects in areas including additive manufacturing and restricted substances in a webinar titled: ‘How to manage vital materials information for collaborative projects." Atos today announced that for the fourth consecutive year, it has been selected as an index component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI). In 2015, the Atos performance was recognized both in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World and in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe. Delcam Canada will demonstrate the 2016 releases of Delcam’s FeatureCAM feature-based programming system and its PowerMILL CAM system for high-speed and five-axis machining at the Salon Industriel de l’Estrie in Sherbrooke, Quebec, on 23rd and 24th September. The 2016 release of FeatureCAM includes a number of enhancements to the Vortex high-efficiency area-clearance strategy.  Vortex gives the fastest safe metal removal from solid carbide tooling, in particular designs that give deeper cuts by using the full flute length as the cutting surface.  It produces toolpaths with a controlled engagement angle and so maintains the optimum cutting conditions for the complete roughing cycle, giving faster machining and longer tool life. The ability has now been added to adjust and fine tune the non-cutting moves of 2.5D and 3D Vortex toolpaths, with options to retract the tool and/or to increase the feedrate.  These options can be set individually, or can be combined to achieve an
