Arena Solutions, the pioneer of cloud-based product lifecycle management (PLM) applications, today announced that it has partnered with xLM Solutions, a PLM services and solutions provider, to release an automated integration between Arena PLM and SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional. With this integration, companies gain a seamless process flow of product data from SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional, formerly known as Enterprise PDM (EPDM), into Arena PLM for prototype, new product introduction (NPI) and ongoing product development processes. Thanks to Arena and xLM Solutions, companies can create and publish parts, files and bills of materials (BOMs) to Arena PLM from within the SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional user interface (UI), which eliminates the need to switch applications and enables engineers to continue working within SOLIDWORKS, simplifying the design process and improving productivity. In addition, because the data flow is automated, this integration avoids the mistakes that are typically introduced through manually exporting and importing information, and also

FCMS, a subsidiary of Contact Software, and the CAE specialist Tecosim are sharing their expertise to develop a new process solution for the transport industry. It is hoped that this new collaboration will speed up the early design process, and thus make virtual vehicle development even faster. Contact Software specialises in product lifecycle management (PLM) software as well as product data management (PDM) and project management software. Ahead of the Product Innovation Congress in Munich next month, this new tie-up represents a further widening of the reach of PLM technology. Ever more vehicle models are being launched on the market in ever shorter design cycles. This demands the fastest possible validation of the vehicle designs with regard to customer requirements, functionality, reproducibility and compliance with statutory requirements during the early development phase. This is where the joint offering from Fast Concept Modelling & Simulation (FCMS) and Tecosim can help designers to reduce

Alain de Rouvray, ESI Group’s Chairman and CEO, comments: “This acquisition complements the recent integration of Picviz Labs (now ‘INENDI’) and its technology for big data mining. Combining INENDI’s data correlation detection with Mineset’s pattern recognition, and linking both to ESI Group’s Virtual Prototyping solutions, provides a new transformative process and source of value creation, particularly in the traditional Virtual Engineering domain. While the exponential growth of the Information and Communication Technologies (‘ICT’) finds an accelerated usage in all economic domains, it also generates massive amounts of data (‘big data’). This trend imposes a critical pressure on industrialists confronted with the need to link virtual simulation models to the real world data of the Internet of Things (‘IoT’). To innovate effectively and competitively, it has become mandatory to generate a multitude of virtual models and to compare them between themselves and versus real world information. Making immediate sense of the exponential flux
