Vero Software is rolling out a new high speed 3D viewer which directly displays and evaluates 3D CAD files without the need for the original CAD application. PartXplore can open the native files of Edgecam, VISI and WorkNC, with further brands in the Vero portfolio expected to follow suit in 2016 R2. PartXplore has been created to efficiently import and analyse all file types and sizes at high speed. It often takes less than half the time to open a file compared to the original CAD application. Both novices and experienced users can build virtual unified prototypes or 3D models imported from a wide range of file formats, including Catia, NX, Parasolid, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, STEP, IGES and many more. The software saves the native CAD data in its own lightweight format, meaning manufacturers can carry out tasks such as calculating surface areas and volumes, and measuring thickness, dimensions and angles without

Intergraph®Process, Power & Marine, part of Hexagon and the world's leading provider of enterprise engineering software to the process, power and marine industries, announces the launch of PV Elite® 2016, the newest version of its complete solution for vessel and heat exchanger design, analysis and evaluation used by engineers, designers, estimators, fabricators and inspectors. PV Elite 2016 offers numerous productivity enhancements. Nozzle input calculation time has been cut from one hour to just minutes. Flanges on nozzles can be connected much more easily. Nozzles on a blind flange can be placed on an Appendix 2 flange on a nozzle, a capability unmatched by any other vendor. Element edges are displayed, which makes it easier to see if a nozzle is placed too close to a weld seam. Symbols and graphics prevent work having to be repeated and the cost of wasted materials. PV Elite now supports the latest code updates, including: 2013 B 16.5

CCE Enhances SOLIDWORKS ODX Libraries

CCE has updated its SOLIDWORKS ODX libraries with several enhancements. “CCE’s purpose is to continuously stay current with market trends in order to provide our customerswith the best possible software; therefore, we strive to align our software features with the needsof our users by constantly enhancing support for significantly used CAD software, such as SOLIDWORKS.  CCE’s ODX libraries now have enhanced PMI support for SOLIDWORKS 2016, which is very important given the increasing focus on Model Based Designs (MBD) and enterprises investing in creating richly annotated 3D models,” said Vinay Wagle, CCE’s VP of Sales and Marketing. CCE’s updated ODX libraries for SOLIDWORKS now feature a significant enhancement to its PMI support by including support for “collection features” in GTol, which is a way to combine one or more tolerances into a single group in SOLIDWORKS. This is a very efficient way of adding tolerance information for instances in a pattern. For example, let’s say there is a circular pattern of five holes where the tolerance information is the same for each hole; instead of applying GTol (30+0.05) to each hole, the combined representation of value can be (5X30+0.05) to indicate that five holes have the same tolerance. ODX/SW now provides both the tolerance information and instance count by way of its support for “collection features” in GTol.  CCE has also introduced some important updates to its SOLIDWORKS write libraries; there is now the ability to create configurations in a SOLIDWORKS part file. CCE has also improved attribute support  by supporting document units and custom material information.   To learn more about the ODX libraries visit –  http://www.cadcam-e.com/development-tools/cad-libraries.aspx Open Data Exchange (ODX) libraries read & write Native CAD data.  File formats that are currently supported for ODX include CATIA V4, CATIA V5, CATIA V6, NX, Inventor, SOLIDWORKS, Pro/ENGINEER (PTC Creo®), JT, Solid Edge, Parasolid, IGES, STEP, 3D PDF, VDA, & STL.  Applications developed using ODX libraries are independent of CAD.  The libraries written in C & C++ are easy to implement & follow software releases via continuous updates.  Apart from licensing the library components, we also provide integrations services to integrate our libraries into customer applications.  The true benefit of using our ODX libraries is the reduced cost to the user.  Our ODX libraries do not require CAD software or licenses, which can be quite costly.  ODX gives the user the ability to read & write native CAD files without the cost of ownership associated with the CAD system.   To view the original press release, please click here. Among the many new developments to be shown by Delcam on stand 4011 at MACH will be a new method for machining blisks that offers substantial savings in both cycle time and cost.  The new method, which has been developed by Delcam in association with tooling supplier Technicut, covers the machining of the blisk from start to finish and combines new tooling concepts from Technicut with advanced machining strategies in Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM software for the rough, semi-finish and finish machining of integrally bladed rotors. In the example to be displayed at MACH, the cycle time was reduced to 35 hours, less than half the time that would have been needed using conventional methods, while the costs for milling were reduced by 45%.  The initial billet was 804 mm diameter Ti6-4 titanium, while the completed blisk has 31 blades, each 84mm in length with a root radius of 4mm and scallop
