U.S. CAD, an Autodesk Gold Partner, announces today that it has acquired Sterling Systems, an Arizona-based Autodesk Reseller. The acquisition aligns with U.S. CAD’s and Sterling Systems’ shared mission to introduce and educate a growing market about CAD and BIM technology solutions. “We are very excited to join U.S. CAD and leverage the company’s expertise to help our customers grow their business and expand their technology investments,” says Bruce White, former President of Sterling Systems. “Customers should be assured that they will continue to have access to the same great offerings and excellent service that they have come to expect.” Among some of the other changes following the acquisition include a relocation of the existing Sterling Systems team to a new U.S. CAD Arizona office that will support a training facility. The training facility is expected to offer monthly classes for products such as AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, Civil 3D, and Navisworks. “For the

The Place Beyond the (Sea) Pines

While my time in the PLM space is short compared to some of my colleagues (only 14 years), I have been involved with software, one way or another, througout my career. So expanding our PLM coverage to include providers of software development tools is no hardship. Our focus is on development of embedded software, the software that animates products designed, manufactured, and deployed using PLM. In that vein, I recently had a call with Seapine Software (www.seapine.com), a long-time provider of application lifecycle management solutions. While they are not a huge company, with over 100 employees and over 8,500 customers, they do have offices in Cincinnati (HQ), London, Munich, and South Africa (which handles Asia-Pacific), and their business is mostly split between North America and Europe, with some in AP. Their solutions began on-premise, and they launched a cloud option earlier this year.  In their 20 year history they have had some

Bentley Systems, Incorporated, announced the availability of its new SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, CivilStorm, and StormCAD V8i (SELECTseries 4) products for the analysis and design of wastewater and stormwater systems. The new releases provide advanced hydraulic and operational capabilities for an increased depth of information modeling that empowers users to evaluate and compare a wider range of network considerations. Through the optioneering this facilitates, users are able to assess trade-offs across disciplines and systems in terms of cost, time, and efficiency. This allows them to make better-informed decisions that result in better system performance. The SELECTseries 4 releases also help streamline the information modeling process – saving time and money. Gregg Herrin, Bentley director, product management, explained, “With the SELECTseries 4 releases of our SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, CivilStorm, and StormCAD V8i products, users are able to evaluate every aspect of existing systems and compare possible new designs. Simulations can predict everything from flooding to hydrogen sulfide formation, and then assess the effect of alternative designs to

Geometric will preview its latest release of CNC programming automation solution, CAMWorks® 2015, in Booth E-3320, IMTS 2014 in Chicago, Illinois from September 8 - 13, 2014. In today’s environment, manufacturers need to be able to do more with less - less design time, program time, setup time and machining time. CAMWorks 2015 focuses on making the entire design to part cycle shorter. Quicker Programming Time – CAMWorks 2015 has over a dozen enhancements focused on shortening the programming time. One example is the color based identification of complex surfaces making it easier and quicker to define features by avoiding the traditional chains and profiles methodology. CAMWorks 2015 has bolstered its ability to interpret non-prismatic surfaces on solid models as machinable entities automatically. This enhanced ability to leverage feature-based machining for complex requirements in combination with Intelligent Knowledge Base (TechDB™) allows end users to eliminate the routine elements in CNC programming and
