PLM Road Map 2016 for the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) Industry in collaboration with PDT Europe, is the must-attend event for A&D industry executives and PLM practitioners globally—providing independent education and a collaborative networking environment where ideas, trends, experiences, and relationships critical to the A&D industry germinate and take root. The theme for this year's conference is “Joining Forces to Remediate Common Pain Points and Build a Platform for the Next Generation of Product Lifecycle Management.”
Over the past few years, a new conversation has been taking place within the A&D community arising from a growing recognition that certain persistent pain points – points of friction, complexity, or instability, that erode the productivity and quality of product information flow through aircraft and defense systems programs and inflate the cost of systems sustainment – are common across the industry. After decades of individual action, a growing number of A&D companies have decided that their common PLM pain points can best be remediated through joint action. These companies are coming together not to stifle competition and innovation, but, on the contrary, to shift the spend profile, increasing resources available for innovation by reducing redundant spend on common problems. They are looking to their next generation of PLM and see major opportunities for innovation, but as they plan and pursue their visions these persistent pain points are holding them back.
While some companies are joining forces to remediate persistent pain points in order to free up investment resources, these same companies and others are planning and implementing the next generation of PLM. These companies are anticipating emerging trends, such as best of breed plug and play enabled by platforms and robust standards, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), SMAC (social, mobile, analytics and cloud), and IoT (internet of things).
CIMdata’s PLM Road Map™ 2016 for the Aerospace & Defense Community brings together the perspectives of these two groups of leading industry thinkers: those who have joined forces to remediate common pain points, and those who are planning and pursuing the next generation of PLM. Speakers for the first group will present jointly defined objectives, requirements, and roadmaps for remediating pain points. Other speakers will present progress reports, lessons learned, and best practices in pursuit of next generation PLM.
CIMdata established an Aerospace & Defense practice in 2012 and has facilitated the operations of an industry action group since 2014, with the expressed mission to direct and fund advanced research and set direction for A&D on PLM-related topics. It is through these contacts across the A&D PLM ecosystem that the topics and speakers for this event have been assembled.
CIMdata’s PLM Benefits Appraisal Guide is designed to help potential PLM users evaluate the applicability and payoffs of PLM in their enterprise, and to help existing users of PLM monitor the impact it is having on their product programs.
