Damen Selects IFS Applications to Improve Project Control and Streamline its Operations
Damen Shipyards Gorinchem has selected IFS project-based solutions to improve project control, increase efficiency, reduce delivery times and optimize information flows. The shipyard builds and maintains a wide range of vessels, varying from tugboats to container ships. Damen is the largest shipbuilder in the Netherlands. The initial phase of the project is worth € 1.1 million for IFS, including licenses and services.
The project-based solution from IFS is based on IFS Applications 7.5 and includes the new, intuitive IFS Enterprise Explorer user interface. The specific functionality in IFS Applications allows Damen to optimize its project and contracting management and thus reduce risks. Integration with engineering, purchasing, production and service/installation provides Damen with full insight into project progress and costs, including budgeted, committed and actual costs at any time.
This year Damen Shipyards launched a project named Dawn that aims to use the same processes, systems and master data within all product groups:
“The integrated functionality of IFS Applications and the worldwide local service and support network of IFS were the deciding factors for us when we chose the solution. Our project “Dawn’ will result in clear, common processes throughout the organization. The implementation of IFS Applications will be of crucial importance to make this project a success,” says Bert-Jan ter Riet, Director Production & Logistics at Damen.
IFS project-based solutions have proven to be a good fit for shipyards and oil & gas suppliers/contractors around the globe. IFS’ shipbuilder customers include STX Europe (Norway, Finland, France, Romania, Vietnam, Brazil), Austal and Todd Pacific Shipyards (USA), Babcock Engineering Services and Fleet Support Ltd (UK), Ursa Shipyards and Uzmar Denizcilik (Turkey), PT PAL (Indonesia) and Stocznia Marynarki Wojennnej S.A. (Poland).
