A New Program Review Report from CIMdata:
Dassault Systèmes – Electrical & Electronics PLM Program
ANN ARBOR, Michigan, January 10, 2006 — CIMdata consulting and research firm announces the availability of a new report entitled “Dassault Systèmes–Electrical & Electronics PLM Program.” In this report, CIMdata provides an introduction to both PLM and to Dassault Systèmes’ (DS) PLM program, with a review of their program that is focused specifically on the Electrical and Electronics (E&E) industries.
Ed Miller, CIMdata President explained, “In today’s challenging global markets, PLM has become a critical strategy for companies that want to be successful. PLM is driving business transformation and enabling companies to be much more innovative with regard to the products they produce and the processes they utilize throughout the product lifecycle. PLM has established itself as essential for future business success.”
Mr. Miller added that in the industrial markets, E&E businesses are playing a bigger role in utilizing and driving development of PLM. “E&E issues are also having a growing and major impact on traditional mechanical industries, such as automotive and aerospace due to the growing impact of electronics and embedded software as integral components of these products,” said Miller. For suppliers of broad PLM solutions, E&E solutions are becoming a critical component of their overall offerings.
In the PLM market, DS has established a solid position as one of the industry leaders, and in 2004 led the PLM market in market presence. Recognized as a very strong supplier of PLM solutions to the mechanical industries, especially automotive and aerospace, DS has also recognized the growing impact of E&E in PLM, including both interest in E&E industries and the impact of E&E issues in traditional mechanical industries. The DS E&E PLM Program takes advantage of this industry growth and provides solutions to facilitate those companies in their quest to utilize PLM as a key enabler for their success. These solutions are built upon base capabilities provided through their SMARTEAM, CATIA, and DELMIA product offerings. In addition, DS has developed a number of new extended capabilities specifically focused on E&E issues.
Mr. Miller concluded, “DS’ E&E solution program is substantial, even though many components are still undergoing development. As with most PLM solutions, developments will evolve as DS gains additional experience with E&E customers and the PLM industry continues to mature. But the value to customers should be significant, and we expect to see this solution offering gaining additional industry exposure over the coming months.”
