EMA Design Automation® has just announced the acquisition of Accelerated Designs, a company known for its dominance in EDA part library content and solutions including a 7.2-million-part database and its specialist library tool Ultra Librarian. "One of the many challenges an electrical engineer faces during the design phase is getting accurate and usable symbols and footprints," said Manny Marcano, president of EMA Design Automation. "Accelerated Designs' library is the world's largest library for EDA symbols and footprints, offering over 7.2 million quality parts to choose from. Additionally, Accelerated Designs offers services to enable any IC vendor to quickly and easily create the EDA library content its customers need when choosing their components." The acquisition includes all EDA content and software created by Accelerated Designs. Lantek has taken its first step in upgrading its solutions to take advantage of the increased capacity offered by 64-bit microprocessors and is planning to market launch a Lantek Expert native version in 64 bit. Five-axis machining and full traceability of parts are combining to help an oil and gas specialist diversify into the nuclear market. Al-Met’s sophisticated machine shop predominantly manufactures components for flow control valves, and assembling carbide parts onto Inconel or super duplex, thanks to a range of machine tools, including a recently-acquired 5-axis machining centre and 5-axis lathe, both programmed with Edgecam from Vero Software. The Javelin production control system, also part of the Vero suite, now ensures full traceability of those high precision components, as demanded by the two highly disciplined industries. Omnify Software today announces that Sky plc, a European entertainment company, implemented the Omnify Empower PLM solution. Sky was looking for a single, electronic system to manage all product data and facilitate the sharing of information among their design team in the United Kingdom (UK), external suppliers, and their manufacturing teams in China. Tata Technologies, the Novi-based global engineering services provider, today announced a $30,000 donation to the United Way of Genesee County to provide nutritious food to Flint residents during a day-long event on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Flint continues grappling with the effects of more than a year of elevated lead levels in the city's water system.
