ASCON Group, the developer and integrator of high-performance CAD/AEC/PLM software systems, is pleased to announce the 2.1 release of Renga Architecture, the intuitive 3D modeling software for the AEC industry. The ASCON development team is hard at work every day adding new features to Renga Architecture. And so that's why we decided to not wait for the scheduled third release, but share Renga Architecture 2.1. with our users today. The main reason for introducing a new update fewer than two months after the last release of Renga Architecture is because we changed the way that trial mode works. After the end of the 60-day trial period, Renga 2.1 now allows you to still open projects, create new ones, and event print drafts; the new limitation is only that files cannot be saved. When you select visible 3D objects, Renga Architecture now chooses objects with the help of the frame. For example,

Today, Altair announced that it has partnered with Ziegler-Instruments to enhance its Squeak and Rattle Director (SnRD), making it the most advanced and comprehensive solution on the market to predict and eradicate squeak and rattle phenomena in vehicles, aircraft and other products sensitive to Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH). The addition of Ziegler-Instruments’ PEM material database gives Altair’s SnRD clients access to the results for over 11,000 individual stick and slip phenomena for different materials pairs.  The SnRD is a combination of highly customized software and automated processes that are implemented by Altair’s service division, Altair ProductDesign in conjunction with a client’s engineering team and testing teams. The solution creates a comprehensive, efficient and semi-automated approach to determine relative component displacements in the time domain that can lead to undesired squeaking and rattling in products. By identifying potential areas of concern in the early stages of design, the overall design quality

Mentor Graphics Corporation announced new PADS 3D tool capabilities plus major usability enhancements to the PADS flow for printed circuit board (PCB) design. The new technology provides visualization, placement, and design rule checking in 3D, minimizing iterations with mechanical and manufacturing teams. Schematic design and layout enhancements improve usability across the flow for increased user productivity. "The photorealistic PADS 3D tool (with solder mask turned ON) made it very clear, very quickly that I had a problem. Without it, we would have had to document/disposition the issue, correct the design, ECO the release documents/drawings … not to mention take a reputation hit with the customer," stated Robert Berrington, electrical engineer, DornerWorks, Ltd. "With PADS, we were able to find and correct the error before it left the building!" The powerful 3D engine within the PADS product enables full 3D visualization, placement, design rule checking and PDF creation. The commercial engine also provides faster
